FAQs for Ealing Half Marathon Virtual Challenges

Can I sign up for either of the Ealing Half Marathon 2020 challenges if I didn’t sign up to the original race?
Yes! The challenges are open to everyone.

Can I take part in both challenges?
Queen of the Suburbs has now sold out. If you want to still take on a challenge please enter our 13.1 Distance Challenge.

I don’t live in Ealing, can I still take part?
You need to travel to Ealing to take part in the Queen of the Suburbs Challenge, but you can take part in the 13.1 Challenge anywhere in the world.

How will you track my runs and distance?
You will need to upload your results via your www.my.race-nation.co.uk account on your app. You can create your account on registration or claim it after you have signed up. Full details are available below and will be sent to you before the start of the events on how to do this.

Can I walk or jog the challenges?
Yes! You can walk, jog, or run (or a mixture of all three!) for both challenges.

Is there an age limit for the challenges?
No but each registration only includes one medal per event so anyone that wishes to take part to receive a medal will need to have their own paid place.

Can I raise money for charity?
You can choose to raise funds for one of our four Charities if you so choose but it’s not a requirement to taking part in the event. However, we and the charities would love it if you were able to put your miles to use.

Where can I order merchandise?
UK Orders only:
If you live in the UK you can order HERE. You don’t need to be taking part in the events to order merchandise.
Overseas orders: If you live overseas you can order HERE.

I’ve ordered a t shirt and/or hoodie, when will I receive it?
UK orders normally arrive within 10 to 14 working days.

When I’ve completed my challenge, how will I receive my medal/s?
After the challenge results are checked at the end of September, those who have completed the challenge will receive their medals in the post 6-8 weeks later.

How will I know if I’ve won a social media prize?
Ealing Half Marathon will contact you directly either on social media or via email if applicable.

13.1 Challenge questions

Where can I sign up?
13.1 Challenge HERE

Do I have to complete the 13.1 miles in one go?
No. You have nine days to complete distance. You can run it in one session or many, just run, jog or walk the 13.1 miles between Saturday 19 and Sunday 27 September 2020. Of course, there is nothing to stop you running the distance more than once!

Do I have to complete the challenge in Ealing?
No. You can run, jog or walk anywhere in the world

How will Ealing Half Marathon know I’ve completed the 13.1 miles?
You will need to upload your results via the RaceNation app.

Tracking
This event uses Strava or a Manual Submission only to track your distance. You can use a running watch or your smart phone to record your distance. Or if you don’t have tracking device but know a set distance (such as a parkrun course which is 3.1 miles/5k as an example) you can work out your distance and upload manually.

What are the 13 Ealing parks that form part of the challenge?

How will I know which parks I have run in?
You will need to upload your results via your www.my.race-nation.co.uk account on your app or PC. You can create your account on registration or claim it after you have signed up. Then by using a tracking app (e.g. Strava, Garmin Connect, Runkeeper etc) you will be able to add in your links to the activity you have done in the matching park.

To Record your results each week please follow the instructions below!
1. Log into your account HERE using the email address you registered for the event with.
2. If you’ve not logged in previously you will need to first claim your account by entering the email address you registered with HERE and follow the instructions.
3. When you have successfully logged in, you can locate the Ealing Queen of the Suburbs Challenge 2020. Select ‘view entry’ to go to your race entry details.
4. Click ‘Manage Entry’,  scroll to the bottom of the list of parks and click on the blue edit button at the bottom right hand corner of the list, tick the park(s) you have completed, this will then allow you to enter the link to your proof as well!
5. Press save at the bottom right hand corner of the list, that’s it, you’re done!

How long to do I have to complete the Queen of the Suburbs Challenge?
You have the whole of the month of September to complete the Challenge. You can complete it within one day, a week, or spread out across the month. We hope you will enjoy visiting Ealing’s green spaces and there is nothing to stop you running in any of the parks more than once!

How far do I have to run/walk in each park?
Any distance. You don’t have to run through it, around it, or to and from the park (but you can if you want to). You only need to demonstrate you have been in that park and have run and/or walked to or within the park itself.
