This will be the third year that the Ealing Mini Mile takes place the day before the award-winning Ealing Half Marathon. It follows an extremely successful event in 2018 that saw over 1,500 youngsters take part in a series of Mini Mile races on the Saturday afternoon, kicking off race weekend in true style.
The 2019 Family Mile is a fantastic chance for children aged five or under to take part in their own separate race along with an adult. A total of 400 places will be available, allowing for 200 children and 200 adults. The Family Mile is an exciting new addition to race day and promises to be popular with siblings of older children entering the Mini Mile as well as with all families wanting to enjoy a big community event together.
For young runners of any age and ability, the races are a perfect opportunity to experience a large sporting event and the thrill of crossing the finish line. The course covers a one-mile route around Ealing’s Lammas Park and the spectator support is superb, really motivating the young runners as they make their way round and celebrating with them as they cross the finish line and receive their medals.
All children in the Mini Mile and the Family Mile will receive a t-shirt, medal, chip timing and water on finishing. Adults taking part in the Family Mile will receive a medal.
The Ealing Mini Mile will start in the afternoon and covers a one mile route around Ealing’s Lammas Park and there will be prizes for winners of the different age categories and every runner gets their finish time.
It sees entries from a large number of youngsters who have never taken part in a running event before plus junior members of the athletics clubs and schools as well as offspring of the Ealing Half Marathon runners.
Current Mini Mile course records are held by Charlotte Buckley from Thames Valley Harriers (00:05:43) and Joseph Barnes (00:05:18).
The entry fee has seen a price freeze for 2019 with the Ealing Mini Mile at £12.00 per child and £15.00 for the Family Mile (1 adult, 1 child) which includes a unique medal, water and a t-shirt for all the mini finishers.
