The organisers of the award-winning Ealing Half Marathon have announced four charity partners
for the eighth anniversary event taking place on Sunday 29th September 2019.
Alzheimer’s Society and Cancer Research UK return as Platinum Headline Charities following
demand from previous years, while Macmillan Cancer Support and Meadow House Hospice
are welcomed as new Gold Charities.
Since it was established in 2012, Ealing Half Marathon has been a superb platform for charity
fundraising, with over £2 million raised to date. The race is a big favourite among the running
community and always welcomes many charity runners among the thousands who take part each
year. With the prompt announcement of official charity partners for 2019, it is hoped that many
runners will be encouraged to sign up and raise money for these excellent causes.
Alzheimer’s Society is the only UK charity investing in research into dementia care, cause, cure
and prevention, whilst working to meet the needs of people affected by dementia and inspiring
change. All fundraising efforts at Ealing Half will help the charity to make greater progress
towards its vision of a world without dementia. To request a fundraising pack or to sign up to run
for Alzheimer’s Society, visit the website or email firstname.lastname@example.org. A charity place can
be secured with a £10 registration fee and the minimum fundraising target is £300.
Cancer Research UK is the world’s leading cancer charity dedicated to saving lives through
research. The charity’s pioneering work into the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer
has helped to save millions of lives, and support from runners at Ealing Half Marathon will help
them to take another step closer to beating cancer. To request a fundraising pack or to apply to
run for Cancer Research UK, visit the website or email email@example.com. Charity places
are free for runners who pledge to raise £350 or more for their life-saving research.
Macmillan Cancer Support promises to be another popular choice for runners wanting to make a
difference to others. As one of the largest British charities, it provides specialist health care,
information and financial support to people affected by cancer, with a goal to improve the lives of
everyone living with cancer in the UK. To request a fundraising pack or to apply to run for
Macmillan Cancer Support, visit the website. Charity places are free for runners who pledge to
raise £300 or more in sponsorship.
Located in the grounds of Ealing Hospital, Meadow House Hospice is one of London’s first NHS
hospices and holds special significance to many in the local area. It provides specialist palliative
care services to the residents of Ealing and Hounslow through its 15-bed inpatient unit, active day
hospice and clinical support to patients in their own home. The Hospice also provides valuable
support to the families and carers of those with life-limiting or terminal conditions. To request a
charity place with Meadow House Hospice, email firstname.lastname@example.org. If you already have a place
and want to start fundraising, visit the JustGiving page.
As well as raising substantial amounts for charity, Ealing Half Marathon is well known for its
incredible community support and friendly atmosphere. It was voted the UK’s Best Half
Marathon for three consecutive years at The Running Awards and is a sell-out each year as
runners secure their place to experience the famous #EalingFeeling.
The 2019 Ealing Half Marathon will be the eighth edition of the race and it is set to be the biggest
and best yet. The UKA-measured, single-lap course follows a closed-road route around the leafy
streets of West London, taking in parts of Central Ealing, Montpelier, Pitshanger, West Ealing,
Hanwell and St Stephens. The race starts and finishes in Ealing’s Lammas Park, where the race
village is located.
Race Director Sandra Courtney commented, “We are delighted to welcome back Alzheimer’s
Society and Cancer Research UK as Official Charities for the 2019 Ealing Half Marathon, and it is
fantastic to bring on board Macmillan Cancer Support and Meadow House Hospice this year too.
All four charities carry out incredible work and are close to many people’s hearts. We hope that
many runners will be inspired to sign up and secure a charity place to help make a real difference
to others. Anyone who already has their place in the 2019 Ealing Half Marathon can request a
fundraising pack from any of our official charities and start raising sponsorship. We are extremely
proud that Ealing Half Marathon has been able to make a difference to many amazing causes
over the years, and we’ll be giving an extra big cheer to our charity fundraisers in 2019!”
